A cool little nifty motel, with a larged shared kitchen/ dining/ living areas and a few bathrooms in between other rooms. The room (Twin Single) was tidy and spacious, with a sink in the room also. Interms of location (Mt Maunganui) its a 15 minute-ish walk to the township, along with a few closer superettes nearby. Also to mention that the Owner/ Operator is receptive and very easy going. But overall personally I enjoyed my stay.
Good heat pump and the shower had excellent water pressure. The room was clean and tidy, with a good bed. No face cloth though. I didn’t realise it was a hostel with no Reception area. I didn’t see anyone during my stay there. Instead I got emails and texts from the owner with instructions. Although very efficient, it was too impersonal for me. I felt nervous walking from my room (at the back of the property) to the kitchen (at the front) to get a drink. Full payment was taken from my account 5 days before I arrived which I didn't like.
We always choose to stay here whenever our company has work in or around Tauranga. The hotel is comfortable, welcoming, and, most importantly, the service is excellent.
Paul has been absolutely fantastic and has always gone out of his way to help us. He is friendly, professional and genuinely cares about his guests. We really appreciate all the help and support he has given our team.
We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, and whenever we have work in the Tauranga area, this will always be our first choice.
Highly recommended!
Affordable accommodation in Mount Maunganui with a great location.
The shared bathroom was clean and tidy, and the shower had excellent water pressure.
The keyless entry system was very convenient because I didn’t need to carry a key or access card around.
Overall, I had a comfortable stay and would happily stay here again.
lovely place, super clean, nice owners and great facilities for a competitive price. i’ve travelled around the world and this place is a stand out for sure. stayed in room 10
It is great house felt like the only one there I'm sure there is others but didn't see anyone so felt like I had whole house to my self the sleeping rooms a little small but not a major complaint the code thing does help for security i suppose however my code had problems wasnt working very well even after paul gave me another code to use made me panick thought I was gonna be locked out however eventually got in my room.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The proprietor Paul keeps a keen eye on the cleanliness and presentation of the place, and makes guests feel welcome. Rates are reasonable. Thanks for looking after us, we'll be back.
Good Wi-Fi, proper beds, good to excellent towels, really clean, well equipped kitchen, nice and wide common area, but you could hear a bit too well even common talk from room to room and quite small room.
A very pleasant spot with room to spare. Great kitchen/lounge areas with comfortable quality fittings and furniture. Quiet location in the heart of Mt Maunganui with plenty of parking close by. Originally a retirement home, Seagulls is like a home away from home.
as we arrived there was this really friendly lady at the reception. she explained us how to use the really modern key system what made the stay feeling really safe, also we could leave our car in the main entrance.
room was quite small, but we had a private bathroom. kitchen was always clean and tidy
We stayed here as a family of four and had booked thru booking.com for two rooms expecting them to be joined or at least next to each other.
When we arrived I discovered that the rooms were at opposite ends of the hallway and both had a double bed.
When the manager found out we had 2 children he managed to change the rooms so they were next to each other and 1 had 2 single beds for the children which was much appreciated.
The place was warm quiet and clean.
The only downside was the ceiling looked like it had multiple ruff repairs and the basin in our room had several cracks in it.
We stayed here another time about 9 years ago and would stay there again.
My blanket had blood stains which I have photos of and showed the cleaner plus weird stains on my sheets . It felt like there was cameras in the apartment and it wasn’t up to scratch at all so much grime in the corners etc. great location and friendly owner but it needs a massive update.
Stayed here for two nights with my wife and kids. Booked it through booking.com and got the family room.
Room had a queen bed and two single beds which was perfect for us. Kids loved the idea that we were all in one room.
Room was an en-suite and it had a couch and a kitchenette. Everything you need for a short or even a long stay.
There were common areas in the property too and it was pleasantly quiet, and most of all, it was clean.
Beds were firm enough and there were plenty of pillows which our moly liked.
Staff was very hospitable too 😊
Definitely recommend this place!!!
I gave 5 stars because they covered all the important comfort points at a reasonable price.
Good value accommodation, please don't change that, so we come back next year.
Shower opposite room 10 had really weak pressure and changing temp.
GoKi system and location was good.
Some construction noise in the building next door meant I couldn’t nap, but no fault of the hotels.
Friendly staff, great vibes, great times. The only place to stay in the Mount. Showers also elite.
Thinking of rebooking for our honeymoon later this year.
Seagulls Guesthouse in Mount Maunganui is a quiet, tidy and well maintained place to stay. The common room areas are well equiped, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The location is great for those engaged in sport, with the Bay Oval nearby. Definitely recommend for those looking for a quiet and comfortable place to stay.
I had a really good stay here. Right in the centre of Mount Maunganui itself, so everything is easily walkable. Free WiFi, rooms well equipped. It was nice surprise to find each room has its own heat pump that is extremely good at heating and cooling. There is electric locks that you can type your code in or use your mobile phone.
It is nice to know Paul takes pride in his business and also take guests safety very very seriously.
